Building has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started out working around my own place - picking up the tools, figuring out what worked, getting a feel for how things should go together. At some point I stopped doing it just around the house and started doing it for other people. It wasn't a big decision. It was just the thing I was good at and genuinely enjoyed doing.
I started Eastern Decks because I wanted to do the work the way I thought it should be done. When you call me, I'm the one who answers. I quote the job, I build the job, and I'm the one accountable for how it turns out. I don't hand it off, I don't use subcontractors, I don't disappear once the deposit's cleared.
The outdoor side of things is where I do my best work. There's something genuinely satisfying about transforming a space that felt neglected or unusable into somewhere a family actually wants to spend time. That's the part I'm most proud of.
I've been building across East Auckland for 10 years - Howick, Bucklands Beach, Pakuranga, Botany, Dannemora, and the surrounding suburbs. I'm a solo operator, not a large crew. Just me, doing straightforward work for people who want their outdoor space done properly.
